NEW CHESTER, Guysborough County -- Mrs. Eliza Smith, 70, was buried in St. James' cemetery, New Chester, following service in St. James' Anglican Church on Dec. 28.
Born in New Chester, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Annie (Bezanson) Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Irene (Mrs. Chester Bezanson), New Chester; Margaret (Mrs. Burnell Jewers), Ecum Secum; Linda (Mrs. Ross Levy), Pictou County; one son, Burney, Lower Sackville; a brother, James Smith, New Chester; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband Percy, a step-brother, and a grandson.4

Irene Marie Smith was born on 28 April 1929 at New Chester, Nova Scotia.1,3 She married Chester Reuben Bezanson.2 Irene Marie Smith died on 12 October 2010 at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, at age 81.1 She was buried on 17 October 2010 in St. James Cemetery, New Chester, Nova Scotia.1

BEZANSON, Irene Marie — 81, New Chester, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010, in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Born in New Chester, April 28, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Eliza (Smith) Smith.
Irene worked at Liscomb Lodge, Beaver Acres Hotel, Bright House in Sherbrooke and at Seagull Fashions. Irene's hobbies included quilting, sewing, knitting, cooking and baking, and her flower garden. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by daughter, Faye (David) Levy, New Chester; son, Allan (Mary), New Chester; stepdaughters, Gloria MacMichael, Wellington; Joan Sandever, Dartmouth; brother, Burney (Elizabeth), Bedford; sisters, Margaret Jewers, Ecum Secum; Linda (Ross) Levy, New Chester; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; two step great great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by husband, Chester; son, Loman; stepsisters, Evelyn Rudolph, Beulah McBain, Agnes Smith; stepbrothers, Chester and Thomas.
The body has been cremated, visitation Saturday, October 16, 7-9 p.m. with funeral service Sunday, October 17, at 1 p.m., all in Ecum Secum Funeral Home. Rev. Katie Tait officiating. Burial to follow in St. James Cemetery, New Chester.1
