A quote from the "Glancing Over Nova Scotia" article in the Halifax Herald, 8 November 1921, mentions sisters Rita and Margaret, "Miss Rita Gates is making a visit with her sister Mrs. Milford Bezanson at Chester Basin."5 A quote from the "Glancing Over Nova Scotia" article in the Halifax Herald, 23 January 1922, "Miss Rita Gates left Saturday morning to take up her duties as a student nurse in the hospital in Windsor."6 She married Paul Hibbert Bezanson on 30 September 1926 at New Ross, Nova Scotia. She was 25. He was 24.1,4 Reta Muriel Gates died on 24 August 1994 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, at age 93.7,4

Born in New Ross, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Ella (Demille) Gates. She worked as a nurse in the United States and at the Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax. She was an active member of Western Shore Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by three sons, Owen , Marriotts Cove; Charles, Parnell, both of Chester Grant;11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Hibbert; six sisters, Delila, Myrtle, Josephine, Berdette, Margaret, Amanda; six brothers, Percy, Amos, Sullivan, Ingerson, Seymour, and Parnell.
Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Western Shore Pentecostal Church, Rev. Arthur Sawler officiating.7

Kentville -- Otis Henry Bezanson, 77, of Hillcrest, Kings County, died at the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital Wednesday. Born in Port Williams, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Saltzman) Bezanson. He was engaged in farming most of his life.
He is survived by one brother, Archibald Bezanson, Port Williams.
The body is resting at the W. C. Hiltz and Son Funeral Home, and service will be held in the funeral chapel today at two p.m., Rev. G. N Hamilton, pastor of the Kentville United Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.1

Archibald Bezanson was born on 2 April 1892.3,4,5 He was drafted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 13 July 1918 at Aldershot, Nova Scotia. His date of birth was recorded as 5 April 1895 and he was described as 5ft 10in tall with dark blue eyes and dark brown hair.6 He died on 17 March 1981 at Kentville, Nova Scotia, at age 88.7,5,8 His estate was probated at Kings County, Nova Scotia.8 He was buried in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Nova Scotia.2 He was not the son of Sarah's husband Joseph Bezanson, but had the surname Bezanson.1
