     Afton Fenton Bezanson was born in July 1869 at Canada.2,3 He lived at Marblehead, Massachusetts.2 He was a boat builder.4 He and Walter Grant Bezanson were involved in the search for their brother Ralph Bezanson when he went missing aboard his sailboat. Ralph Bezanson drowned when his twenty-two-foot sailboat capsized in a squall.5 Afton Fenton Bezanson married Emily Swett Morris on 11 August 1903 at Wisconsin. He was 34. She was 33.6,7 Afton Fenton Bezanson died on 9 November 1906 at Long Beach, California, at age 37.4 He was killed when the Bixby Hotel collapsed during construction. At least nine workmen died at the scene and one died several months later.4,8 (Los Angeles Herald articles: 10 November pg. 1, pg. 2, 13 November pg. 8)
     His son and namesake Afton Fenton Bezanson was born after his death.
     His widow Emily Swett Morris and his children Leila Woodbury Bezanson and Afton Fenton Bezanson brought suit against the building contractor seeking $25,000 in damages.9
