Millage Conyers Gates was born on 7 October 1911.1 He appeared on the census of 1921 at Chester, Nova Scotia, in the household of Carey Chipman Brown and Annie Alalia Bezanson with Morley Kempton Brown, Lester Brown, Lindsay Clyde Gates and Gladys Annie Gates.2 Millage Conyers Gates married Dorothy Spidle on 17 September 1932. He was 20.1 Millage Conyers Gates died on 22 October 1995 at age 84. He was buried on 25 October 1995 in United Baptist Church Cemetery, The Forties, Nova Scotia.3

Born in New Ross, he was a son of the late Lindsay and Annie (Bezanson) Gates. He farmed and was a carpenter most of his life and was an adherent of The Forties United Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Lindsay, Timberlea; daughters, Jean Hiltz, The Forties; Winnifred (Winnie) Forbes, Tatamagouche; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; brothers, Morley, New Ross; Roscoe, Aylesford; sisters, Gladys Hergett, Kingston; Norma Stoddard, Harmony; Evelyn Bourgoyne, Kentville; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Dorothy Spidle; a granddaughter; brothers,Clyde, Paul.
Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Chapel, New Ross. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday in The Forties United Baptist Church, Rev.Gordon James officiating. Burial in United Baptist Church Cemetery, The Forties.3

BROWN, Morley Kempton - 82, Grafton, Kings Co., and formerly of New Ross, passed away October 29, 2003 in Evergreen Nursing Home, Kentville.
Born in Forties, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Carey and Annie (Bezanson) Brown. He was a farmer and a labourer, self taught blacksmith and veterinarian always ready to help his friend and neighbours whenever he could. He received an honorary award for his many years helping to organize the New Ross community fair. He enjoyed exhibitions particularly the oxen and horses. He was a member of the Farmers Association and was a founder of the association many years ago.
Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Balsor Misner; sons, Gary (Katherine), Oshawa Ont; Aldrich (Ann), South Berwick; daughters, Ardythe (Robert) Arnold, Grafton; Eunice (Art) Patton, Woodville; Wilma (John) Hazelwood, Mount Uniacke; Wanda (Byron) Harding, Niagara Falls; brother, Ross (Marguerite) Brown, Aylsford; sister-in-law, Rolena; sisters, Gladys Hergette, Kingston; Norma (Glenn) Stoddard, Harmony; Evelyn Bourgoyne, Kentville; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
