     Obituary:
Obituary of Ernest Parker Bezanson

It is with great sadness and broken hearts, that we announce the passing of Ernest “Ernie” Parker Franklin Bezanson, 85 years of age of Berwick, NS, passed on April 27, 2019 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.

Born in The Forties community, Ernie had a selfless nature, always willing to lend a hand where needed, from clearing snow from driveways for neighbours to lending his talents as a handy man. His career as plant manager with the Purity Popcorn Company, Toronto, Ontario, allowed him to use many of his skills he has learned.

Retirement for Ernie, was not as some would imagine with all the many projects he had on the go, particularly the annual making of his renowned Sauerkraut. Ernie wouldn’t shy away from larger projects; for example, in his 80’s, he painted a barn with a forty-foot ladder. A lover of animals, Ernie held a special spot in his heart for cats. Nutured by a strong family connection and positive homelife, while living in Ontario, Ernie would host family gatherings most weekends. Ernie loved to have his family and friends close.

Ernie was predeceased by his parents Alfred Herman and Mary Elizabeth (Hiltz) Bezanson; sisters Sara Jane Bezanson, Mary Gwendoline Bezanson, Helen Elsie Bezanson; brothers Alfred Nelson, Henry Hallet; and his companion Rhoda Willchuk.

Ernie is survived by his first wife Elva (Reeves); his loving son Dean (Judy) Bezanson; brother Eric Isiah; sisters Idella “Doll” Burgher and Elizabeth “Betty” Anderson; grandchildren Clifford (Jillian) Bezanson, Rachel (Jeff) Zettler, Brittani Bezanson and Dylan Bezanson; great-grandchildren Wesley Bezanson and Zachary Zettler; Ernie was loved and will be missed by his late companion's children Craig (Karen) Willchuk, Glenn (Karen) Willchuk, Nina Willchuk and Krista Willchuk. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and several grandchildren. Ernie will also be missed by his former daughter-in-law, Linda (Amos) Bezanson.

Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at a later date in the Saint Augustine Cemetery, The Forties, NS.5

Obituary from Serenity Funeral Home (New Ross, Nova Scotia):
It is with heavy hearts yet a degree of comfort, the family of Dean Margeson Reeves, 87, of New Ross announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at home with his family. Dean was the son of the late Robert and Daisy (Keddy) of New Ross.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mona (Bezanson); son Margeson (Joanne), New Ross; daughter Laurenda, Dayspring; son Christopher, at home; and daughter, Treva, Halifax; grandsons Christian (Felicia), Patrick (Amanda), Marlow, Colton (Alyssa); and great-grandson, Ramsey (who always put a smile on his face). He is also survived by brothers Ashton, The Forties; Parker, Oromocto, NB; and sister Sylvia Webber, Chester Basin, and many nieces and nephews. Extended family, Tina Renner, Corona CA; Michael Renner and his children Mikayla, Brett and Carly Renner, Hammonds Plains. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Dora Oakley, Bertha Russell, and Hattie (in infancy), brothers Arthur, Blaine, Cecil and son-in-law Bruce Renner.

He was in the Reserve Army at age 15 and later helped to establish the New Ross Credit Union. For many years he was active in the New Ross community as a Warden at Christ Church and a member of the New Ross Volunteer Fire Dept. Dean wouldn't say he was a hard worker all his life, but he would say he stayed busy. He held many different jobs during his working years, from picking tobacco, working in the woods, to driving a truck carrying Christmas trees, pulp wood, and even barrels. For 25 years he owned and operated a successful Stihl chain saw shop.

He was an outdoorsman - an avid fisherman, hunter, trapper and gardener. Indoor activities included square dancing and a good game of cards. Some of his favorite times were the annual Reeves family reunion in the field at his old home place and get-togethers at his camp he and his family built on Loon Lake.

Dean suffered some physical setbacks in life, including a fractured skull in the 1960s and a triple A aneurysm in 2005. He was tough. The last few years were a bit of a struggle with mental clarity, but his sense of humor was always there. He just got tired; it was time. The family would like to thank Palliative Care and the VON for their home support; Sib for her visits; and daughter-in-law Joanne for her help and expertise in caring for Dean.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the New Ross Funeral Chapel. Funeral service to be held at Christ Anglican Church, Monday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Judi Phillips officiating. Interment to follow service. Family flowers only. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral home and Chapels.3
