FREDERICKS, Mida Thursa - 103, Chipman Brook, Kings Co., passed away peacefully at the home of her son, Irving Fredericks, on Monday, December 28, 2009.

Born in the Forties, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Nathan and Agnes (Bezanson) Hiltz. Mida was the oldest member of Black Rock Baptist Church and was also a member of the Jolly Workers Sewing Circle. She was a life member of the Women's Missionary Society. Mida was the world's best knitter. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her daughters, Ruth (Scott) McLean, Woodville; Edith (Glanville) Travis, Canning; sons, Nathan (Dora), Grand View Manor, Berwick; Albert (Doreen), Berwick; Irving (Connie), Chipman Brook; 29 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 15 great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James A. Fredericks; daughters, Clara Coleman, Agnes Morton, Jennie Moody; grandson, Earl Moody; eight sisters; three brothers.

Visitation for Mrs. Fredericks will take place from 2-4 p.m. Thursday in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick, from where the funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Friday, January 1, Rev. Freda MacDonald officiating, with burial in Black Rock Cemetery.¹

Alvida Mae Hiltz, 91, Ocean View Manor, Eastern Passage, Halifax County, formerly of Kentville, died Friday, August 24, 2001, in the manor.

Born in The Forties, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Nathan and Agnes (Bezanson) Hiltz. She was a homemaker and an avid worker with the Evening Guild of St. James Anglican Church, Kentville. She was a past noble grand of St. Eulalie Rebekah Lodge, Kentville.

She is survived by daughters, Mrs. Shirley Wilson, Dartmouth; Barbara (Mrs. Albert "Keith" Peppard, Riverview, N.B; sisters, Mida Fredericks, Grand View Manor, Berwick; Alice Brydon, Halifax; grandchildren, Bruce, Shirley, Shelley, and Lynda; seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Golding Hiltz; sisters, Olive, Ruby Wentzell, Erva Scott, Flossie Windrow, Vivian Somers, and Ruth in infancy; brothers, Harmon, Lowell, and Aubrey; grandson, David; great-granddaughter, Michela. There will be no visitation by family request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville, Father John O. Scott officiating. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill.²

BRYDON, Alice Valeria - 84, Halifax, formerly of Cambridge Station, Kings Co., passed away November 4, 2005, at home.

Born in 1921, in Forties, Lunenburg Co., she was the youngest daughter of the late Nathan and Agnes (Bezanson) Hiltz. She was a member of the Anglican Church of Canada.

She is survived by her husband, Vere Brydon, Halifax; daughter, Valerie Anne (Hugh) Fraser, Halifax; daughter/niece, Mary Somers (Albert Lee), Halifax; sister, Mida Fredericks, Berwick; grandson, Allistair Neil Fraser; granddaughter, Kaylon Rheanne Fraser, both of Halifax; nominal granddaughter, Nadine (Steve) Stewart, Edmonton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Alice was predeceased by sisters, Alvida Hiltz, Vivian Somers, Olive Adams, Ruby Wentzell, Flossie Windrow, Erva Scott, and Ruth in infancy; brothers, Lowell, Aubrey, and Harmon in infancy. Arrangements are under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax, where visitation will be held Monday, November 7, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Carl Price officiating. Reception to follow the service. Interment will be held in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax.²

Hiltz, Ida May, age 89 years of Bridgewater, formerly of the Forties, passed away peacefully at the Ryan Hall Shannex in Bridgewater on August 15, 2014. Born in Fraxville on May 15, 1925; she was the daughter of the late Austin & May (Barkhouse) Bezanson.

Left with fond and loving memories are her son Darrell Jones of Bridgewater; daughter Penny Dupuis (Brian) of Coldbrook; brothers Maurice of Morden Mountain, Merlin of Bridgewater and Morley (Jeannie) of Fraxville; sister Elizabeth "Betty" Anderson of Chester Basin; granddaughters Cherise Dupuis and Catherine Dupuis; great-grandson Jaxon Eavis; nephew Danny Hiltz.

Predeceased by her husband Minard Hiltz in 2009; brothers Donald and Allistor; sister-in-law Leone Bennett.

Ida was a member of the Forties Community Center and St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church. She loved to make homemade donuts for her family and friends. Special thank you to niece Vicky and her daughters especially over the last year for their continued support for Ida. Also, thank you to Management and Staff of Ryan Hall Shannex in Bridgewater for their exceptional care.

In keeping with Ida's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be visitation held on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 7-9pm at the Forties Community Center, 1787 Forties Road. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11am at the St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church, Forties with Rev. Judi Phillips officiating. Burial to take place in the Church Cemetery.⁴
