Born September 7, 1925, the youngest daughter of 10 girls of the late Richard and Edith (Schofield) Bezanson (of Middle River). She attended school at Marriott's Cove, Windsor Academy and Richmond School in Halifax. Cavell graduated from the Halifax Stenography College and was employed with Eastern Air Command Halifax, during the Second World War. She was a member of United Baptist Church, Chester, and the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary where she held different offices. She was awarded her 60-year pin from the Ladies Auxiliary June 2008 and was the only active serving member of the first Roll Call List of 1948. She was a chartered member of the Chester Fireman's Auxiliary and member of Canadian Order of Foresters. Cavell enjoyed gardening, walking, crocheting, knitting, sewing and computer. She wrote a book, "My Story" depicting her growing up on the family farm in Middle River. She always enjoyed her family, friends, boating and picnics.
Besides her parents, her infant twin sons, Victor and Rodger predeceased her, along with her husband, Gerald L. Stevens; and sisters, Laura, Evelyn, Jessie, Rae, Blanche, Marjorie, Daisy, Eileen and Ethel.
Surviving to mourn her loss are her beloved children, Terry, Linda and Jocelyn (Steven) Swinamer; her 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, the community, and friends of Chester and area. Cavell will not be soon forgotten, she was well-loved by all who knew her.
There will be a private funeral service, for immediate family only (COVID-19 protocol) in United Baptist Church in Chester at 2 p.m. October 14th followed by interment, for extended family and friends in Chester Pine Hill Baptist Cemetery on Golf Course Road, Chester. Please abide by COVID-19 protocol, masks, no hugging or kissing, and maintain distance. Thank you for being kind and respectful of others. No visitation in the funeral home. Arrangements by Davis Funeral Home.2

SWINIMER, Lila Esther - 74, Western Shore, passed away after a lengthy illness, July 4, 2006, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.
Born December 24, 1931, in Chester Basin, she was a daughter of the late Avery and Alfretta (Boutilier) Bezanson. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin; her children, Raymond and Violet, Western Shore; Ken and Glenda, Chester Basin; Deborah, Niagara Falls; Mike and Hope, Chester Basin; Darrell and Beth, Niagara Falls; Chris and Billy, Chester Basin; Nick, Kingston, Ont; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence.
She was predeceased by sisters, Isabelle, Ruth, Marie, Pearl, and Norma; brothers, Angus, Melborne, Henry, and Lawrence. Visiting will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in St. Mark's Anglican Church, Martins Point, Rev. Canon Duanne Tanswell officiating. Burial will be in Western Shore Cemetery.1

He is survived by five daughters, Olive (Mrs. Walter Lantz); Marguerite (Mrs. Davis Hatt); Cassie (Mrs. Everett Backman), all of Chester Basin; Hazel (Mrs. Edgar Hatt), Beech Hill, Lunenburg County; Lola (Mrs. Robert Robar), Calgary, Alta; two sons, Floyd, Lower Sackville; Stillman, Chester Basin; a sister, June (Mrs. Barney Marengere); a brother, Willis, both of Chester Basin; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
