Walter Irving Bezanson, Denise Marie Bezanson, and David Rod Davenport were mentioned in an article that appeared in The St. Petersburg Times (St. Petersburg, Florida) on 9 January 1979:
Grandparents of infants orphaned after accident fight for custody
NEW PORT RICHEY — The grandparents of two youngsters who lost their parents in a traffic accident in December are involved in a custody dispute over the youngsters.
Tarpon Springs lawyer Nick Stamathis Monday filed a petition on behalf of one set of grandparents in an attempt to modify a temporary custody order that granted custody to the other grandparents.
Joel Lamarr Davis and his wife Betty, the paternal grandparents, were granted temporary custody Dec. 22 under the supervision of the State Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services.
Stamathis represents Walter I. Bezanson and his wife Anna, the children's maternal grandparents. The Bezansons allege that the two youngsters, Michael Paul, 1 month-old, and Donald David Donald, 1-year-old, should be in their custody.
Stamathis says the best interests of the two youngsters would be served by giving them to the Bezansons.
David Rod Davenport and his wife Denise Marie, the parents of the youngsters, were killed Dec. 17 in a head-on traffic accident on the Moon Lake Road.8
