Ancel Maynard Bezanson was born on 1 September 1878 near Halifax, Halifax County, Nova Scotia.2 He married Dorothy Robillard on 18 February 1908. He was 29.1 Ancel Maynard Bezanson became a widower at age 30 upon the death of his wife Dorothy Robillard in December 1908. Ancel Maynard Bezanson married Laura Sophie Robillard on 10 January 1910 at Ottawa, Ontario. He was 31. She was 37.3,4 Ancel Maynard Bezanson had twin daughters who died at birth.5 In December 1913, he and two companions drove the Edson Trail in Alberta. The two week trip was intended to spur interest in developing a northern town. He volunteered for the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 2 January 1917 at Calgary, Alberta. He was described as 5ft 10¼in tall with blue eyes.6 He became a widower at age 73 upon the death of his wife Laura Sophie Robillard on 28 May 1952 at Vancouver, British Columbia.7,8 Ancel Maynard Bezanson died on 2 September 1959 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Vancouver, British Columbia, at age 81. It was called "The Peace River Trail". The government used it to open up the north country area (Alberta)." The book published by The Ryerson Press entitled SODBUSTERS INVADE THE PEACE, is now out of print, available only in archives and libraries. Gertrude Mattinson was guest of honor at Bezanson, Alta., 1986. Also, an article from THE GRAND PRAIRIE HERALD TRIBUNE 7/30/88: "Percy and Gertrude Bezanson chased after Uncle's Dream" includes pictures of Gertrude & Percy."11
In Ancel Maynard Bezanson's book he mentions that his oldest brother was killed on a cattle run in Wyoming in the early 1890's. The brother may have been Everett Chipman Bezanson.1

BEZANSON -- Jim Robillard died in Evergreen House, March 12, 1998, age 85, after a 5 year struggle. Survived by his loving and caring wife Marjorie. Jim was an avid skier, sailor and hunter, and the winner of awards in the field of wildlife conservation. He collected antique weapons, and as owner and skipper of "Maratea", was a WVYC Member.
"He did everything first-class," says Marjorie. "There wasn't a lazy bone in his body. He did almost everything he wanted to do - except the African safari. As owner of J R. Bezanson Millworks, Jim was responsible for creating a great many of the commercial hotels and store interiors in Vancouver. He helped many people on a personal level, including the Publisher of this paper.
"I'll miss him," says Marjorie. "His will to live amazed me, but the last five and a half years were very hard. They were wonderful to him at Evergreen House."
Jim is also survived by his three daughters, Gail, Denise and Sherry, and granddaughter Jillian. There will be no funeral or memorial service, at Jim's request.9
