Tot's Death 'Accident'
WEST VANCOUVER, June 16 -- Testimony at the coroner's inquest into drowning of two-year-old Wayne Bezanson showed the child was wearing a life-preserver minutes before he fell from the stern of his father's yacht at Fisherman's Cove, Sunday.
The father, James Bezanson, of 1353 Clyde, told the jury in a broken voice that he and his wife were preparing to go home after Bezanson had been working on the boat, Mara Tea, and had removed the child's life jacket.
"I was just changing my pants and shirt and I saw his little brown face go by me in the cabin," the father said.
"Then, the next thing I knew, my wife said, 'Where's Wayne?'
"We ran to the deck and he was gone."
The jury returned a verdict of accidental death.2
