It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend Carol. She passed at the QE11 Health and Sciences Centre Victoria General Hospital after a brief septic infection and complications from Covid. Carol was predeceased by her husband of nearly 50 years John Ronald MacInnis, her father Aubrey Mason, mother Mary Mason (Bezanson), brother Kenneth Mason, and sisters Lillian and Olive. She is survived by her sister Florence Mason (Toronto), her son John MacInnis (Toronto), daughter Lynn Ramirez (California), her treasured grandchildren Matthew Ramirez, Allison Ramirez (California), Sven MacInnis (Toronto), niece Elise Cote and nephew Jim Flowersmith.
Carol travelled the world with her family supporting her husband John as he worked at Canadian Embassy’s in Manilla, Philippines, Georgetown, Guyana and Kingston, Jamaica. They would eventually return to their hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia. We will remember her friendly spirit and deep love for her family. No one was a stranger in her eyes-only friends she had yet to meet.
“We will release you to the hands that heal and make new” Loved forever her family and dear friends.3

Obituary from The Calgary Sun (Calgary, Alberta), 21 June 2000:
BEZANSON - It is truly unbelievable that we announce the untimely passing of our mother, wife and friend, Cynthia (Cindy) Johanna Bezanson (nee Pitzel), on Saturday, June 17, 2000 at the age of 42 years from adencarcinoma. It is unbelievable, as to know Cindy was to know a true "Virgo". She lived life to the fullest with a zeal of energy, was impeccably organized, a self-initiator, vehemently determined and competitive, ever opinionated, and balanced these traits with a compassion towards others. Cindy directed her greatest energy towards the rearing of her children, son, Aaron (fifteen) and daughter, Lindsey (twelve). Though she ended up spending so little of their lifetime with them, in that short time she instructed them diligently in their critical early years; both in the life skills they would need to "succeed", and in overcoming her passing. Cindy invariably developed many networks of friends in the communities she lived in.
Born in Humboldt, SK on August 29, 1957, she grew up in the Saskatchewan communities of Carmel, Humboldt, and Kelvington, later moving to Saskatoon while attending Business College, Lloydminster, Wetaskiwin, Calgary, Edmonton and returned to Calgary in 1994. She worked primarily in the field of Human Resources, but not solely, at Manufactures Life in Saskatoon, Lakeland College in Lloydminster, Dairy Control Board in Wetaskiwin, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Bank of Montreal Data Centre, Save-On Foods, Alberta Automobile Association, with a return to SAIT only a couple of years before her diagnosis.
We thank her many networks of friends for their support, including her longtime friends, Pam Cey, Kelly Krienke, Cheryl Gutek and Val Olsen. We also thank all the doctors including, Drs. Robert Thompson, Steve Martin, Mare Mazuryk, Martin Labrie and especially Dr. Vicky Penney for their assistance in Cindy's journey; along with the many nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Home Care, Rockyview Hospital and Agape Hospice.
Cindy is also survived by her loving husband Ron; mother, Francis (stepfather, Dominique Musty-Cindy's soul mate in this disease) of Saskatoon; brothers, Alan Pitzel (Jan) of Winnipeg, Clinton (Sherry) of Shaunovan, SK, Brent (Nancy) of Wynyard, SK; and sister, Norine of Fort McMurray; and her in-laws, Bill, Anne and Maureen Bezanson of Saskatoon and Brenda Picard of Calgary, as well as by the loves of her life, her nephews and niece, twins Eric and Adam, Zachary, Ryan and Caitlin.
She was predeceased by her inspirations in life, her father Herb, and grandmother Elizabeth.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Fish Creek Chapel", (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, June 22, 2000 at 7 :00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.) on Friday, June 23, 2000 at 10 :30 A.M. with the Rev. Patrick J. Cramer, Celebrant. Graveside Service to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Saskatoon, SK at a later date.1

Bezanson (Pitzel) Cindy
August 29th, 1957 - June 17th, 2000
Last night I had a crazy dream, a wish was granted just for me, it could be for anything, I didn't ask for money or a mansion by the pool, I simply asked for one more day with you. One more day one more time one more sunset maybe I'd be satisfied, but then again I know what it would do, leave me wishing still for one more day with you. - Forever your husband Ron, Aaron and Lindsey.2
