A newspaper report implied that he was released early because he had testified against another bootlegger.¹⁰ He married Nell E. Blosser on 6 April 1926 at Jackson County, Missouri.¹¹ Howard Gordon Bezanson died on 9 April 1938 at Proviso Township, Illinois.¹ He was buried in Wichita Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, Sedgewick County, Kansas.¹²
