Mrs. Rachel E. Ferguson, widow of Edward W. Ferguson, formerly of 102 Ogden St., city, died at 3 a.nm. today (Oct. 21, 1974) at the United Helpers Home, where she had been a resident since May 29, 1972.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. George N. Sayles, rector, officiating. Burial will be in the Ogdensburg Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Fox Funeral Home of Ogdensburg will be Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon and evening at the convenience of friends.
Surviving are four sons, Donald of Oswegatchie, Edward of Phoenix, Ariz., and Stanley and Gerald, both of this city; three daughters, Mrs. Edward Charlotte) Meurick of Morristown, Mrs. Jacqueline Denny of Gloversville and Doris Ferguson of this city; four sisters, Mrs. Alberta Duggan of Epping, Mass., Mrs. Bessie Sprague of Manchester, N.H., Mrs. Charlotte Adams of Northeast, Pa. and Mrs. Gladys Earl of St. Petersburg, Fla; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She married Edward W. Ferguson Oct. 16, 1919, at Notre Dame Rectory. After their marriage they resided on Lafayette St., city, until [1933?] when they moved to Waddington. They then operated a farm for five years and returned to Ogdensburg in 1944 where they lived on Albany Avenue and later Ogden Street. He predeceased her in 1956.
She moved to the United Helpers Home in 1972.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and St. Agnes Society of that church. She was a member and past matron of the Maple City Chapter OES.2

A graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1938, she was first employed at Rockland State Hospital, Rockland County, NY where she met Edward J. Mourick. The couple married in June 1941 and returned to the Ogdensburg area. Mr. Mourick served in WWII and upon his honorable discharge in 1946 he returned home. The couple purchased Newton’s Lodge on State Route #37, just east of Morristown. They renamed it “The Lodge”. The Mourick’s, along with their 9 children expanded The Lodge from a Texas Hots stand to a full-scale restaurant noted for its Friday Night Fish Fry. The restaurant continued family operation until 1993 when it was sold. Mrs. Mourick continued to enjoy her summers at their camp on the St. Lawrence River.
She was an avid quilter and enjoyed many hand crafts.3
