One of the town's best known and most active citizens Mr. Bezanson opened his bicycle and auto repair shop early in the century, operating first on Lower Main St. and removing shortly to Campbell's Cor., where he carried on a thriviing business in the town's first garage in the building now known as HMS Dreadnaught, and used following Mr. Bezanson's retirement for the training of Sea Cadets. Senior deacon in the United Baptist Church for many years, he was a staunch member of the Loyal Orange Lodge and of Royal Black Preceptory, in both of which he held capable office."4

Born in Isaac's Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Edwin M. and Margaret (Boyd) Bezanson. She was a life member of the United Baptist Church and was active in her community. She was a member of Cape Breton Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; ladies auxiliary of Glace Bay General Hospital; the Red Cross and Ladies Aid of the Baptist Church. Until her retirement in 1979, she worked with her husband in their insurance agency for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean (Mrs. Allison Arbuckle), Edmonton; granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Georgie Robb, Sydney; Rae McVean, Perth, Ont; two nieces; a nephew.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry M; son, Edwin in infancy; two brothers, Alex, Ralph.
Funeral and committal service will be 2 p.m. today in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay, Rev. Jennifer Smart officiating. Burial will be in Forest Haven Cemetery.4

GLACE BAY -- Alexander S. Bezanson, 75, of 20 Catherine Street was pronounced dead on arrival at the Glace Bay General Hospital on Thursday. A life long resident of Glace Bay he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bezanson.
He retired from the Cape Breton Development Corporation in 1972. At one time he was foreman at Bezanson's Garage which was located at Campbell's Corner. He also worked as a Mechanic with the Glace Bay Bus Company, service manager at Bay Motors and was head garage mechanic with the Dominion Coal Company. Mr. Bezanson was an adherent of the United Baptist Church and was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows. He was a past Noble Grand with the IOOF and was also a member of the Men of the Deeps.
His wife the former Olive Munroe predeceased him in 1975.
Mr. Bezanson is survived by one brother, Ralph, three sisters, (Abbie) Mrs. Harry Munroe, Glace Bay, (Raye) Mrs. Neil McVean, Perth, Ont., (Georgie) Mrs. George Robb, Sydney.
The body rests at the V.J. MacGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street where the funeral and committal service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment will be made in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney-Glace Bay Highway. The Rev. John Leddicote will officiate. Tonight at 7:30 members of the IOOF will assemble at the funeral home for a service.3

BEZANSON, Robie Silas — 87, Isaac's Harbour, Guysborough County, died Wednesday in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Frederick K. and Myra (Giffin) Bezanson. He was educated in Isaac's Harbour, and graduated in 1925 from Acadia University. He worked in parts and accounting departments in automobile businesses in Glace Bay, Antigonish and Halifax, retiring in 1970 after 33 years as salesman for Auto Parts Company Ltd of Halifax. He was a member and deacon of North Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Halifax and received his 50-year jewel in 1980 from Masonic Lodge of St. Mark, 38, AF & AM.
He is survived by his wife, the former Laura Blanche Baker, two daughters, Melba (Mrs. Percy Zwicker), Mississauga, Ont., Ruth (Mrs. Vernon MacWilliam), Cornwall, Ont., two sons, Lewis, Isaac's Harbour, Fred, Glenwood, Ill., 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.
The body will be in Isaac's Harbour United Baptist Church, visiting 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, from where funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Robert and Lola Mather-Dyer officiating. Burial will be in Isaac's Harbour Cemetery.5
