He was a n/o River John, Pictou Co., and went to Dorchester 29 yrs. ago entering the penitentiary service as shoemakinginstructor. He leaves an only son, and a neice (sic). (Obit). P.W. From The Shepherds of Markland by Scott Winston Teal, 1991, Page 29 Jean Louis Langille was called "Big Louis". He was born in Tatamagouche and moved inland of Marshville in 1792 to an unsettled tract of land which became known as "Louisville"., named after Jean Louis Langille, the first settler. On February 23, 1815, Georges Joudrey and Jean Louis Langille were granted land at Louisville by the aging King George III.
