DARES, Stanley Stewart--80, passed after an extended period of failing health. Stan passed away July 5, 2010, in QEII Health Sciences Centre in the presence of his family. Born in Dartmouth, October 12, 1929, he was the son of the late Harris Hugh Dares and Mabel (Leck) Dares.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Ross, Hughie, and Percey.
He is survived by his friend, Muriel Boutilier; his children, Mary (Gerald), Porters Lake; Walter (Gwen), West Chezzetcook; Winnie Ann (Ken), Cole Harbour; Brenda, Alberta; Vernon, Dartmouth; and the mother of his children, Shirley Bezanson; grandchildren, Sheryl, Ann, James, Nadine, Eric, Cody, Amanda, Sandra, Marcus, and Jeremy; greatgrandchildren, Ray, James Jr., Lacey, Akiko, Damien, Faith, Destiny and Brooklyn.
Stanley was a member of Austomy Group. He enjoyed the old History Articles of Dartmouth.
He is resting in Cole Harbour Funeral Home. Visitation was held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Service today at 2 p.m., Pastor Pedro Graca officiating. The interment will be held in Elderbank Cemetery following the service. We wish to thank QEII Health Sciences Centre for his wonderful care.1
