CROFT, Roy Eldon - 86, Greenwich, Kings Co., died August 3, 1996, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.

Born in Greenfield, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Edward and Martha (Bezanson) Croft. He lived in the valley area all of his life. He worked for Acadia University until his retirement in 1975.

Surviving are wife, the former Florence Millett; sons, Maynard, Greenwich; Douglas, New Minas; daughters, Gloria (Mrs. Gordon Schofield), White Rock; June Sharpe, Virginia (Mrs. Wilfred Hughes), Avonport; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by daughter, Marguerite; brothers, Ross, George, Lee; sisters, Ethel, Annie, Dolly.

Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday both in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Wolfville, Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial in Gaspereau Cemetery.2

Maynard Donald Croft
     Maynard Donald Croft was born on 29 September 1934 at Hantsport, Nova Scotia.1 He died on 20 December 2013 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, Nova Scotia, at age 79.1 He was buried in Gaspereau Cemetery, Gaspereau, Nova Scotia.1

     Obituary from The Chronicle-Herald (Halifax, Nova Scotia), 23 December 2013:
Croft, Maynard Donald – age 79 years of Wolfville, passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital on December 20, 2013.

Born in Hantsport on September 29, 1934; he was the son of the late Roy and Florence (Millett) Croft. Maynard worked for many years as a crewman for the Department of Transportation. He was very well known in the community for his passion of country and blue grass music , and spending countless nights at the Old Orchard Inn barn dances; he was a proud and avid supporter of all the local benefits. Maynard had many loves in his life but above all he treasured his cats and horses.

Left with many happy and loving memories are his daughter Polli Brace (Larry) of Yarmouth; brother Doug Croft of New Minas; sisters June Sharpe of Avonport and Gloria Schofield (Gordon) of White Rock; brothers in law Stan Benedict and Wilfred Hughes; grandsons Russell MacLeod (Ashley Killam) and J.D. MacLeod; great granddaughter Samantha Hawley; also by several nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of extended family members and friends.

Predeceased by his sisters Virginia Hughes and Marguerite Benedict; half brother Purdy Millett.

Visitation will be held at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville Chapel on Monday, December 23, 2013 from 11-1pm. A private family service will follow with Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment to take place in the Gaspereau Cemetery.1
