BOWDOINHAM - Ruth G. Veno, 79, of the Post Road, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.
She was born in Waterville on Aug. 27, 1928, the daughter of Melbourne Lawrence and Nina Blanche Barkhouse Bezanson.
She was the salutatorian of her high school class and graduated from Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y., in 1948 with a degree in Christian work. She graduated from Gordon College in Wenham, Mass., in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in Christian education. She later took graduate courses at Gordon College, Tufts University and received her master's degree in elementary guidance and counseling in 1978 from the University of Southern Maine.
She married Arthur Veno Jr. in Revere, Mass., in 1950. Mr. and Mrs. Veno moved here from Revere in 1968. The Rev. Veno died in 1985.
A member of the Second Baptist Church, she was a director of vacation Bible school, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, sang in the choir, was a deaconess and church pianist for eight years.
She taught public school for 23 years. She taught the first Headstart Program for preschoolers in Revere, volunteered in the Women's Auxiliary of the Bowdoinham Fire Department, and was a substitute teacher in the former Bowdoinham Christian School and the Bowdoinham Community School.
She was predeceased by two brothers, George and Robert Bezanson, and two sisters, Amy Brickett and Bernice Baglio.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Heald of Monmouth and her husband, Charlie; two sons, Steven Veno of Bowdoinham and his wife, Tammy, and Daniel Veno of Bowdoinham; a brother, Robert Bezanson of Ontario; a sister, Roberta Copeland of Pottstown, Pa; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Second Baptist Church, 1 Church St., Bowdoinham, with the Rev. Jon Stratton officiating. Burial will be in Bay View Cemetery in the spring.6

Roberta Madeline Bezanson was born on 10 October 1929.1 She married John G. Copeland Jr. on 18 August 1950. She was 20. He was 28.1,3 Roberta Madeline Bezanson died on 16 September 2017 at Seasons Hospice, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, at age 87.4 She was buried in Mount Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum, North Coventry Township, Pennsylvania.5

Roberta (Bezanson) Copeland, 87, of Pottstown, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Seasons Hospice, Phoenixville, PA. She was formerly married to the late John G. Copeland.
Roberta was born October 10, 1929 in Waterville, Maine. She was a daughter of the late Melbourne L. Bezanson and Nina (Barkhouse) Bezanson. Roberta was a 1947 graduate of Bessie High in Albion, Maine and a 1949 graduate of Houghton College in Houghton, NY. She attended the Salvation Army Church for over 60 years and served as an Officer for fifteen years. She loved gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four children, Michael J. Copeland, husband of Carol, Orlando, FL; Richard I. Copeland, Pottstown, PA; Kathleen M. Arbour, wife of Richard, Philadelphia, PA; and Lillian J. Bettenhausen, wife of the late John, Oley, PA; one daughter-in-law, Donna Copeland, West Chester, PA; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by one son, Paul D. Copeland and seven siblings, George Bezanson, Robert Copeland, Ruth Veno, Bernice Baglio, Amy Brickett, Pearl Bezanson, and Nelson Bezanson.
A calling hour will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 9:00 – 10:00 am at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 10:00 am. Inurnment will take place after the service at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Pottstown, PA.4
