ABERNETHY, Audrey Edith April 7, 1934 - August 25, 2009 Audrey Abernethy passed away suddenly in the presence of her family on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre at the age of 75 years.

Audrey is survived by her husband of fifty years, Ronald; sons, Wayne (Sandra) and David (Carol); grandchildren, Robert, Krista, Tyler, Alysha and Brody; sisters, Mona (Dean) Reeves and Veronica Reeves of Nova Scotia; sister-in-law Elaine Keating of Pickering, Ontario; and her nieces, nephews and their families who will greatly miss her.

Audrey was predeceased by her son, Brian; mother and father, Henry and Ethel Bezanson; brother, Orval Bezanson; sisters, Grace Young, Elsie L'Herault, and Rhoda Kosowan of Toronto; and brothers- in-law, Blaine Reeves of Nova Scotia and John Kosowan of Toronto. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway's Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) today, August 31, 2009 at 2:30 p.m.²

HILTZ, Edward Alexander (Alex) - 85, The Forties, Lunenburg County, died February 22, 1993, in Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick.

Born in New Ross, he was a son of the late Freeman and Ellen (Cleveland) Hiltz. He had been employed at Ross Farms, New Ross for several years.

He is survived by his wife, the former S. Jane Bezanson; two daughters, Lydia (Mrs. John Macdonald), Halifax; Margaret (Mrs. Lindsay Gates), Timberlea, Halifax County; sister, Mrs. Hazel Bezanson, Dalhousie; brother, Vincent, Fraxville, Lunenburg County; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Alexander in infancy; sister, Ethel. The body is in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home, Kentville.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Augustine's Anglican Church, The Forties, Rev. Gordon Neish officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. Donations may be made to Alzheimers disease unit at Grand View Manor, Berwick.³

HILTZ, S. Jane - 85, The Forties, Lunenburg County, died May 7, 2000, in Armview Estates, Halifax County.

Born in Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Mary Elizabeth (Hiltz) Bezanson. She was known for her many crafts, especially straw hat making and demonstrated this art throughout the Maritimes. A book was produced describing her talent for this art.

Surviving are daughters, Lydia (Mrs. John MacDonald), Halifax; Margaret (Mrs. Lindsay Gates), Timberlea; sisters, Mary (Mrs. Cecil Daniels), The Forties; Helen (Mrs. Percy Corkum), Auburn; Mrs. Idella Burgher, Musquodoboit; Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson, Chester Basin; brothers, Eric, Aylesford; Ernest, Berwick; grandchildren, John Michael MacDonald, Andrew MacDonald, Stephen MacDonald, Joseph MacDonald, Angela (MacDonald) Comeau, Carla Gates-Morris, Peggy Gates-Hammond and Julie Gates; four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alex Hiltz; infant son, Alexander; brothers, Henry and Alfred.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, May 8, in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, in St. Augustine's Anglican Church, The Forties, Rev. Gordon Neish officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Church Cemetery, The Forties.⁶

CORKUM, Percy Colin - 87, Auburn, Kings Co., passed away April 18, 2005, in Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton.

Born in Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., he was the son of the late Nellie Maude Corkum. Percy had worked as a cooper and a self-employed carpenter for most of his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, Auburn.

Surviving are his sons, Andrew (Charlene) Corkum, Oromocto, N.B; James Corkum, Morden; daughters, Shirley (Neil) Graves, Lottie (Hughie) Rafuse, all of Cambridge, Ont; Barbara (Russell) Moriarity, Morden; Lillian (Robert) Dugan, Janet (Brian Bezanson) Corkum, all of Auburn; Eva (Joseph) Vidito, Nictaux, Annapolis Co; Margaret (Robert) MacDonald, Kingston, Ont; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; half-sister, Kay Upshaw, Toronto, Ont.

Besides his mother he was predeceased by his wife, Helen Elsie Mae (Bezanson) Corkum; daughter, Nellie Schofield; grandsons, Keith Moriarity, Barry Robert Dugan, and David Rafuse.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 22, in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, in St. Mary's Anglican Church, Auburn, Rev. Father Charles Bull officiating. Burial in St. Mary's Church Cemetery.²
