BROWN-THORPE, Vera Mae - 1905-2005, Centreville, Kings Co., passed away June 22, 2005, in Wolfville Nursing Home.
Born in New Ross, she was a daughter of the late Amos and Hattie (Bezanson) Gates. Vera was a member of Centreville Baptist Church and a former member of the North Alton and New Ross Baptist churches. Vera was a dedicated Christian, a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.
Vera is survived by children, Ivan Brown, Lawrencetown; Judy Welton, Tupper Lake; David (Janet) Brown, Centreville; daughters-in-law, Billie Brown, Margaretville; Mary Brown, North Alton; stepchildren, Grace Banks, Sheffield Mills; Doreen MacDougall, New Minas; Lewis Thorpe, New Minas; Bernard Thorpe, Hants Border; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Percy Brown; sons, Sheldon and Lawson; second husband, George Thorpe; brother, Elton Gates; sister, Freda Murphy. The family would like to offer sincere thanks to the caregivers at Wolfville Nursing Home for their loving kindness and wonderful care. There will be a visitation for Vera on Saturday, June 25, from 7-9 p.m. in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, in Centreville Baptist Church, Rev. Marc Potvin officiating. Burial in New Ross Baptist Church Cemetery.2
