Vancouver records fourth murder of year
Vancouver has recorded its fourth homicide of the year after a 64-year-old man was found shot Tuesday in an illegal booze den he operated in the 1800-block Triumph St.
Inspector Tom McCluskie said friends found Richard Bezanson lying in a 600-square foot basement suite at about 1:30 p.m.
He was taken to hospital but died, said McCluskie.
There was no indication when the shooting occurred as no one reported hearing shots fired.
The premises contained a number of tables which police believed were used for after-hours drinking.
McCluskie said police believe the murder had nothing to do with the three other apparent gangland murders and shootings that have occurred in February.
Bezanson was not known to police, McCluskie said.
He said police were also investigating the suspicious death of a 32-year-old man whose body was found in a room at the City Centre Motel, 2111 Main Street at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
