Obituary from White Family Funeral Home (Kentville, Nova Scotia):
Ruby Charlotte (Bezanson) Keddy -- 86, of North Alton, passed away in the presence of her loved ones on Friday, May 9, 2025 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Aaldersville, Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Flora (Costly) Bezanson.
Ruby worked for Blueberry Acres for many years as a field boss. She was a lifetime member of St. James Anglican Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. Selflessly, she helped out at any charity or community event. She loved to bake for her family and friends. If you stopped by the home it was impossible to leave without enjoying a delicious treat and a cup of tea. (She made the best molasses cookies and sweet dill pickles around.) Ruby enjoyed going to jam sessions, spending time in the vegetable and flower gardens, and feeding the birds; taking solace in the simple things in life. She loved to go to yard sales, trying to find a treasure or a pair of salt and pepper shakers to add to her very extensive collection. She enjoyed playing cards: Kings in the Corner, Auction Forty-Fives, and Cribbage. This became a nightly routine enjoyed by her and Vernon and anyone that happened to drop by.
She lived her life to its fullest, putting everyone before herself. Ruby was kind, generous, never judgmental and a devoted Christian. She lived life as the good Lord would have us do; according to the scriptures, which she read daily. Her faith in God and humanity was unshakable.
Ruby is survived by her husband, of 64 years, Vernon; daughter, Yvonne "Bonnie" Keddy (Paul Williams), Aaldersville; son, Eric (Kelly) Keddy, South Alton; brothers, Stanley Bezanson (Mazie Russell), Forest Home, and Garnet Bezanson, Shannox-Kentville; grandchildren, Krista and Michael Cook; step-grandchildren, Jonah Minard, Evan Williams and Spencer Williams; step-great-grandson, Liam Williams; as well as several extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Russell Bezanson and sisters-in-law, Margaret Bezanson and Patsy Bezanson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the kind staff of the ICU at Valley Regional Hosptial.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, with reception, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025 in St. James Anglican Church, Kentville.
