Obituary from The Chronicle-Herald (Halifax, Nova Scotia), 28 November 2018:
Of River John. As the funeral arrives, we feel it is for other people because we have already spent many months grieving the memory of our loved one during his journey with Alzheimer's disease. His family stayed by his side during his final seven days of struggle.
Stanley was born January 4, 1943, a son of the late Russell and Annie (Bezanson) Holt. Stanley was a known worker. He started his working days at age 14, working in a sawmill in the woods and in construction, later becoming a heavy equipment mechanic. There wasn't much he couldn't fix from lawn mowers to heavy equipment. After retiring from Pioneer Coal he spent many hours in his garage doing just that, for whoever stopped by.
Stanley is survived by the love of his life for 57 years, Jean (Langille) Holt; daughters, Nancy (Gerald) Bates, Lisa (Greg Reid) Holt, Vicki (Kevin) McKay; grandchildren, Jordan (Rebecca) Bates, Mitchell (Brittnay) Bates, Noah and Sawyer Buchanan, Joel and Casey McKay (his special girl); great-grandchildren, Brenna and Kaiden Bates and two more expected in the spring; his brothers, Jack (Barb), Eric (Ginny), Donnie; sisters, Betty Langille, Diane (Bob) MacKenzie; brother-in-law, Clyde MacKenzie (Lorraine Tattrie); numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his infant son, Evan; brothers, Jamie, Scott; and sister, Wanda.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, Wednesday in Salem United Church, River John, from where funeral will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, with Rev. Connie McNamara officiating. Family flowers only please.3

Edward Boylan
Harry Boylan
New Ross - Death came twice in the Boylan family when a telegram received by relatives stated that Edward Boylan had passed away at his home in Alberni, B.C., was followed four hours later by a call from New York that Harry Boylan had passed away at his home in Yonkers, New York, with eight hours of his brother's death. Both died suddenly following heart attacks.
Born at New Ross 72 and 63 years ago respectively, they were sons of the late Patrick and Mary Boylan. Edward had resided in British Columbia for the fast forty-five years where funeral service and burial took place.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and four daughters. Harry had been a resident of New York for the past 35 years. His wife, the former Jessie Bezanson of Middle River, predeceased him by several years. A daughter Annette and a son Harold survive. Funeral services were held in New York. Sisters and brothers surviving both are Margaret (Mrs. Thomas Larder) New York; Mrs. Jennie Larder, New Ross; Archibald of Shelton, Wash., Berne and Clarey of New Ross.1
