We regret to announce the passing of Bernard William Bezanson age 93 of Marion Bridge on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford NS. His loving wife Bette at his side.
Born in Halifax on October 16, 1931, he was the son of the late William Albert and Iva Gloria (Baker) Bezanson.
Bernard was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting for duck (with his dog Mikey), deer and fly fishing for trout and salmon. He was also a licensed ham radio operator (VE1 BND).
Throughout his life Bernard worked for Canada Post, Howard's Limited in Halifax, where he met his one true love, Bette, and later in the offices of Maritime Builders in Sydney for over 30 years.
Bernard will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Bette (Stevens) Bezanson, sisters Diana (George) Roberts, Joan (Michael) Wall, Betty (David) Marriott and sister-in-law Ruth (Douglas dec.) Stevens and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bernard was predeceased by his sister Jean (Earl dec.) Cooper, Marion (Carl dec.) Cornelius, brothers-in-law Gordon (Ruth dec.) Stevens, Douglas (Ruth) Stevens and Warren (Regina dec.) Stevens.
McLellan Funeral Home, New Waterford, holds the honour of caring for Bernard's final arrangements.
Following Bernard's wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date at the St. Thomas Anglican Cemetery in Musquodoboit Harbour, NS.2

Jean Frances Cooper (Bezanson)
Age 93, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2019 in North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, N.L., where she resided. Born in Halifax in 1926, she was the eldest daughter of the late William and Iva (Baker) Bezanson.
Jean lived in Halifax most of her life, moving to Newfoundland with her son and daughter-in-law in 2006. In her younger years, she was a skilled seamstress and worked for New York Dress Shop and Simpsons Store, Halifax. She developed a love for movies, film and music at an early age as her father was a projectionist for the Capitol Theatre, Halifax. In her retirement she and her husband Earle lived at Northwood Centre, Halifax where she hosted a music and talk show on Northwood TV. Jean will be remembered for her kind spirit, love of food and social gatherings with friends and family.
Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Earle; sister, Marion (Carl) Cornelius.
She is survived by her loving son, Pat (Della) Cooper, Gander, N.L; sisters, Betty (David) Marriott, Beaver Bank; Dianna (George) Roberts, Lake Ainslie; Joan (Michael) Wall, Ontario; Helen DeBaie, Eastern Shore; and brother, Bernard (Betty) Bezanson, Mira. She will be remembered by grandchildren, Shawn (Kim), Yvette, April; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Arrangements under the direction of Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisport, N.L., where online condolences can be made to the family.1

Thelma Magdalene Bezanson, 86, of First South and Lunenburg, passed away, Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay.
Born in Blue Rocks, she was a daughter of the late James Barnabas and Lillian Ruth Luzetta (Greek) Knickle.
Thelma was educated in the Blue Rocks School where she completed grade eight. She married Robert Borden Bezanson on March 11, 1943 in St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks. A devoted housewife and homemaker she has enjoyed hooking mats, embroidery work, reading, baking, cooking, hymns and of course her grandchildren. Thelma felt her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her family. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, First South.
She is survived by daughters, Linda Wentzell (Byron Morash), Lunenburg; Janet (Durling Deal) Dayspring; grandchildren, Michael Wentzell, Angela Aulenback, Jennifer Wentzell, Cory Deal, Pamela Deal, great-grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Jeremy, Nikita, Demitra, Emma Marie, Sophie and Kiersten, sister, Marjorie (Harold) Romkey, Garden Lots and brother, Dawson (Eldora) Knickle, Lunenburg.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Borden in 1995, and a sister Evangeline Conrad.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Thelma during visitation at the Dana L.
