GAMMON, Bertha Reed - 92, Yorkview Lifecare Centre, Downsview, Ont., formerly of Lake Road, Colchester Co; Rockley, Cumberland Co; River John, Pictou Co; Pictou, and Toronto, died March 18, 1998, in hospital.
Born March 18, 1906, in Tatamagouche, she was a daughter of the late David and Margaret (Geddes) Patriquin. She was a homemaker for most of her life and also was employed as a cook in many logging camps. Following this, she was employed as a companion and personal care worker, working with senior citizens. She was then employed at Sunset Adult Residential Centre in Pugwash until the time of her retirement.
Surviving are sisters, Mrs. Olivia MacDonald, Mrs. Jessie Grant, Eleanor (Mrs. Joseph Lockhart), Truro; brothers, George, Trueman, Tatamagouche; Lambert, Pugwash; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Lorrie Marshall; her second husband, William (Bill) Gammon; daughter, Margaret MacAulay; sons, Walter, Graham and Donald Marshall; sister, Adeline Bonnyman; brothers, Marvin, Walter, Stanley, Charlie, Sidney, Bert. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service was held March 24 in Wood Green United Church, Toronto, Rev. Louise Mahood officiated. Burial at a later date in Pictou County.1
