ROURKE, William Edward "Bill" - 93, Falmouth, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, after a short illness.
Born on November 11, 1911, in Mount Denson, he grew up and lived in Falmouth. He was a son of the late George and Eva (Bezanson) Rourke. Bill's story is one of hard work from an early age in the woods, farms and orchards onwards. He was a carpenter, a farmhand, a logger, and he picked up numerous jobs and skills in a long career. Bill was well-known in the region for his ability to contribute to the construction of numerous homes and buildings in the area for the past 70 years. He was a good honest man, with a kind spirit, well-rooted in the local community. Bill and his wife, Effie, built a strong relationship together as they worked side by side while raising their family. As a father and grandfather who harbored a strong sense of commitment for being there for his family, he will be missed.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Eva Allen, Halifax; sister, Myrtle Deal, Halifax; brother, Lester (Gwen), Falmouth; grandchildren, Susan, Rose, William, Danny, Randy, Shelly, Robert, and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Effie; son, Carl; brother, Arthur; sisters, Shirley, Bessie, and Erma.
Visitation will be today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4, at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix.1

ROURKE, Arthur James (Art) - 73, Sweets Corner, Hants County, died August 17, 1994, at home.
Born at Mount Denson, he was a son of the late George and Eva (Bezanson) Rourke. He retired in 1986 from Fundy Gypsum Company, where he was quarry supervisor, after 30 years service. He was an avid camper and fomerly enjoyed hunting and sport fishing.
He is survived by his wife, the former Irma Mae Lockhart; daughter, Julie Ann (Mrs. Herman DeCoste), Brooklyn, Hants County; son, Wayne Arthur, Newport Corner; four granddaughters, Rachel, Sara and Natalie Rourke, Brittany DeCoste; two sisters, Myrtle (Mrs. Raymond Deal), Lower Sackville; Shirley (Mrs. Howard Peach), Falmouth; two brothers, William, Lester, both of Falmouth.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Bessie Gold, Irma Cox.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. Burial will be in Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix.1
