John Joseph Brigley was born circa 1814 at Black Point, Nova Scotia.1 He married Catherine Elizabeth Roy on 21 December 1835 at St. Paul's Church, French Village, Nova Scotia.2 John Joseph Brigley died in February 1875 at Black Point, Nova Scotia.2 He and Catherine Elizabeth Roy had 14 children.

Westville mourns the passing of one of her esteemed residents, Mrs. Mary Millen who died at the age of 83 years...

WESTVILLE, Aug. 29 - Following a short illness, the death of a highly esteemed resident of Westville occurred, when Mrs. Mary Millen passed away at the age of 83 years. The late Mrs. Millen was born at Lansdowne and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Matheson. She was the last surviving member of a family of eight, six brothers and two sisters. Her husband died 39 years ago and since that time she had been residing at the homes of her son and daughters. Mrs.
Millen is survived by one son, Frank Millen, Westville, and two daughters, Mrs. John MacCulloch, South Branch, and Mrs. Manson Bezanson, Westville. A son, Walter, was killed at the Drummond colliery many years ago. The funeral service was held from the home of her son on Picken Street and was conducted by Rev. D. P. M. MacDonald. The pall bearers, all nephews of the deceased, were Edward Matheson, John G. Matheson, John Sutherland, Westville, and Samuel Matheson, Stellarton. The interment was made at the Auburn cemetery.1
