Bertha Louise DRYSDALE

Age 90, of New Minas, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at home, with her family by her side. Born in Wallbrook, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Gertrude (Bezanson) Brown. Bertha worked for Max’s Restaurant, Kentville; Stirling Farms, Wolfville; Harry Clarke Farm, Woodville; ACA, New Minas and finally the Salvation Army, Kentville, before retirement. Bertha was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by her full-time care giver and stepdaughter, Linda and her husband, Wayne Isnor; additional caregivers, stepdaughters, Donna and husband, David (driver) Thompson, Wilmot; Patricia (Bub) Brown, Canning; stepson, Michael and wife, Nancy McMullin, Wallbrook Mountain. She is also survived by stepchildren, Joyce (Carl) Knox, Dartmouth; Gary (Julie) McMullin, New Minas; Sylvia (Arnold) Keddy, Greenwich; Paulette (Rufus – deceased) Rockwell, Kentville; Brenda (Gaetan) Brisson, Calgary; Pam (Allan) Wagner, Kentville; Randy McMullin, New Minas; very special step great-grandchildren, Sadie, Sophie, Leah, Sylvie and Kaleb; many, many other step grand and great-grandchildren; special nieces, Sandra (Lawson) Munroe, Melanson Mountain; Mary (Blair – deceased) Anthony, New Minas; and special cousin, Brenda (Henry) Aker, Kentville.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Drysdale; sisters, Doris Millett, Geraldine Uhrig, Muriel Noseworthy, and Sueanna Webster; brothers, Donald, Victor, Harold, Vance, and Russell.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A funeral service (with video webcast), followed by reception, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 25th in New Hope Wesleyan Church, North Alton, Pastor Scott Prime, Pastor Jedie Elliott and Pastor Barb Cochrane officiating. Burial will take place in Gaspereau Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.

BROWN, Harold 'Bub'

Age 74, of Wallbrook, Kings Co., passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, in Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Russell and Gertrude (Bezanson) Brown.

He had been employed throughout the Wolfville area with Bill Sharpe, Charles Isnor and Duncanson’s. He also worked for a short period of time with the Millett’s in the roofing business in Ontario.

He is survived by sisters, Doris Millett, New Minas; Bertha Drysdale, Wolfville; brother, Victor Brown, Wolfville; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters, Geraldine Doyle, Suanna Webster and Muriel Noseworthy; brothers, Donald Brown, Vance Brown and Russell Brown.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 24 in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Rev. Scott Prime and Rev. Jedidiah Elliott officiating.1

JACKSON, James Roger 'Jim'

Age 77 of Enfield, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2016, in The Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield, after a short illness.

Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Edward and Catherine (Foster) Jackson. Jim had a varied career, working for Department of Transportation, Stewiacke Construction, as well as being Superintendent of Public Works for the Municipality of East Hants. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors, loved to garden and was a true woodsman. He loved to read, and was never without a book in his hand. Jim was always happiest sitting behind his team of horses, holding the reins.

Surviving are sister, Lynn MacEachern (Bill); brothers, William, Laurie, Clyde, Eric (Colleene), Peter; sister-in-law, Kim; children, Matthew (Lorelei), Erin (Jim), Jennifer (Scott); grandchildren, Colten (Cynthia), Madeline, Jason, Justin, Sarah, Jeffrey, Joshua, Paige; great-grandchildren, Akira and Bentley; former spouse and mother of his children, Sandra (Holmes).

He was predeceased by his wife, Colleen (Shunamon); and brother, Paul.

Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sunflower Cottage, at The Magnolia Continuing Care for their exceptional care during his time there.
