     Phyllis Bent was born on 13 February 1927 at West Clarence, Nova Scotia.2 She married Lawrence Spurr.1 Phyllis Bent lived in Melvern Square, Nova Scotia.1 She died on 21 May 2017 at age 90.2

Halifax Chronicle Herald, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 SPURR, Phyllis Alberta Age 90, Melvern Square, passed on to be with her Saviour, May 21, 2017. Born February 13, 1927 in West Clarence, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Fern (Bezanson) Bent.

Following high school graduation from Bridgetown High School, she taught school for four and a half years. Phyllis loved and served in her church, Fellowship Baptist Church, for nearly 70 years, teaching Sunday school, helping with communion, and acting as president of the Woman’s Missionary Society. She loved her community, taking meals to those in need, collecting for the Cancer Society for 20 years, and helping with community activities. Her passion was to knit, quilt and bake for her family. Phyllis was a devoted wife to husband, Lawrence for 60 years, mother to three children, grandmother to 13 who adored her and 'Cookie' Nannie to her 18 great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her sister, Hilda Messenger, Centrelea; daughter, Nancy Ann (Hal) Cross, Clarks Summit, Pa; son, William 'Bill' Lawrence (Bonnie) Spurr, Melvern Square; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Spurr, Melvern Square; grandchildren, Mark (Rebekah) Cross, Andrew (Bethany) Cross, Rachel (Ron) Hayes, Beth (Zach) Sprowls, Mary (Kevin) Dorey, Lisa (Keith) Jenereaux, Melissa (Nicholas) Murray, Melanie Spurr, William (Lauren) Spurr, John Spurr, Justin Spurr, Katie (Brad) Campbell and Amy Spurr.

Phyllis was predeceased by husband, Lawrence William, son, Gordon Cameron; brothers, Curtis, Charles, Vernon, Wilfred, Arthur; sisters, Grace Young and Cora Goodwin.

There will be a visitation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1 in Fellowship Baptist Church, Melvern Square, with Rev. Bruce Kaiser officiating.

Interment will be in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square.2
